About Me
A beloved professor once told me that we often discover what we are passionate about when we tune into where our mind wanders when we give it space to do so. For me, my mind wanders to stories. Stories drew me to a plethora of books as a child. Stories drew me to English Literature in college: I wanted to learn from the greats. How did they so convincingly transport readers to their worlds? Stories drew me to entrepreneurship and business: how can you learn the ins and outs of a company to help it thrive? And in some ways, stories even led me to the practice of law. Learning a client’s story and understanding what is important to them is an understated asset even in the corporate world.
My decision to make my work story-centric began with the adventure that was writing my first novel. I put pen to paper (literally) in August of 2021. I moved to Ireland later that month to study abroad while in law school, and my days were soon consumed by visits to my favorite pub while writing my first book. Over the next four years, writing my first book often took a back seat to other pressing endeavors – studying for law school exams, taking the Bar, moving to Montana, moving to DC, planning a wedding, and “doing Big Law.” But while it may have taken a back seat, it was what I always knew I wanted to focus on as my long-term career. I took the leap of faith in January 2026 and left legal practice. I have been writing full-time ever since and could not be more excited for what is to come.
I earned a law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law. After graduation, I clerked for the Montana Supreme Court before moving to Washington, DC and joining Hunton Andrews Kurth. Prior to law school, I attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Entrepreneurship with a minor in Spanish.
My Inspiration
Like many authors, I rely on experiences that I have had to fuel my writing. Whether good or bad, these experiences have shaped who I am and how I view the world. I draw heavily on my time living in Ireland. Indeed, Ireland inspired the creation of Ashland, the country in my first novel. My time in Ireland was magical, informative, and inspiring, and tendrils of that time are woven throughout every chapter of my first novel. I also draw heavily on my time living in Colorado and Montana. The mountains have always felt like home to me, and I incorporate both the experiences I have had and the emotions those experiences evoked into my writing.
