Meet The Storyteller
Hi, I’m Katie!
I’m an attorney turned writer currently working to publish my first book. I have a passion for storytelling, and I think the best stories often come from original experiences. My experiences hiking, backpacking, and traveling fuel my writing, and I’m excited to share them all with you.
My Inspiration
Like many authors, I rely on experiences that I have had to fuel my writing. Whether good or bad, these experiences have shaped who I am and how I view the world. I draw heavily on my time living in Ireland. Indeed, Ireland inspired the creation of Ashland, the country in my first novel.
My time in Ireland was magical, informative, and inspiring, and tendrils of that time are woven throughout every chapter of my first novel. I also draw heavily on my time living in Colorado and Montana. The mountains have always felt like home to me, and I incorporate both the experiences I have had and the emotions those experiences evoked into my writing.

A Stained History: Endangered Secrets
A Stained History: Endangered Secrets is book one in the planned ASHES series designed for young-adult readers. It is a story of friendship, duty, and adventure. A Stained History follows eighteen-year-old student, Genevieve Kelley, on the journey of a lifetime as she sets out to save Ashland, the country she knows and loves. Genevieve must rely on her guts, her instincts, and her close friendships as she follows a web of clues hidden in stained-glass windows. With twists and turns, conniving villains, and characters you can't help but root for, it's a story for everyone- young and old. I can't wait to share it with you!

So, why leave? I chose to leave big law to pursue this dream because I knew that if I didn’t, I would look back and wonder, “What if?” What if I had devoted the time to see where this could go? What if I had bet on myself?
What if this is the biggest opportunity of my life that I would be too scared to take.

Why a Book?
“Have you always known you want to write a book?” This is one of the questions that I receive the most when I tell people what I am now doing since I left legal practice. The short answer?
